Bible Prophecy
The Book of Revelation, Explained
Revelation is the last book of the Bible — a letter of hope written to encourage believers under pressure. Though it's full of vivid imagery, its central message is simple and steady: Jesus reigns, evil will be judged, and God will make all things new.
What is the Book of Revelation?
Revelation (from the Greek 'apokalypsis', meaning 'unveiling') was written by the apostle John to seven churches. It pulls back the curtain to show that, no matter how things look, God is on the throne and history is heading toward His good ending.
The main message: Jesus wins
Beneath the symbols — lampstands, seals, trumpets and a final battle — runs one storyline: the Lamb who was slain is the Lion who conquers. Revelation was written to comfort suffering Christians with the promise that Christ has already won.
How to read it well
Revelation uses picture-language drawn from the Old Testament. Read it for its big message of hope and worship rather than as a coded calendar. Let the clear parts interpret the mysterious ones, and keep Jesus at the center.
Key Bible verses
